Bonnie Brown Hartley, Ph.D

Bonnie is a founding partner of the Vital Longevity Institute. She is a member of the VLLA Coach Training Team and contributes in the  development of the facilitator training and certification program for the Vitalign System. 

Bonnie has extensive experience coaching and facilitating individual and group change. She is also president of Transition Dynamics Inc. She is a Fellow in the Family Firm Institute and holds their certificate in family wealth advising. She is an emeritus board member of the Family Firm Institute and Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprise. She speaks internationally on leveraging change, governance systems and leadership development in enterprise families.

Her books Sudden Death and Unexpected Wealth were published in 2006. She co-authored with John Gibson The Dynamics of Aging Families and Health Care Issues of Aging Families, also published in 2006. Bloomberg Press published her book, Family Wealth Transition Planning, co-authored with Gwendolyn Griffith, in 2009.  In 2010 Bonnie and co-author Michael T. Hartley released the two-CD series, Think Ahead.

The Venice Institute for Performing Arts (VIPA) was established on January 1st, 2016 by Mike and Bonnie Hartley, and became the management company for the Venice Performing Arts Center (VPAC) On January 1st, 2017. VIPA, a 501 (c) 3 public charity, was established for the specific purpose of managing the VPAC, bringing performing arts education to our community, and presenting shows that complement those already presented by the 3 Performing Arts Organizations (PAOs) that also perform in the VPAC. The Venice Institute for Performing Arts has a vision that all members of the Venice community have access to quality performing arts and arts education, regardless of socioeconomic circumstances. We are committed to inclusive and diverse experiences that allow our community to come together and empower each other in times of need and times of prosperity.


Board Member: Michael T. Hartley, CFP®

Mike is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dale K. Ehrhart, Inc. He frequently works as part of collegial teams providing sophisticated estate, tax, and investment planning, as well as family office services.

In addition to his executive duties, Mike is involved on a day to day basis with the use of covered call writing, protective put strategies, collars and other forms of sophisticated investment planning. Prior to joining Dale K. Ehrhart, Inc. in 1985, Mike worked as a corporate comptroller and director of finance.

Mike is actively involved in many civic and charitable organizations in the Venice area, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award from the National YMCA Southern Region. A member of Family Firm Institute, Financial Planning Association, and National Committee on Planned Giving, Mike chairs the finance committee of The Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice. He co-authored Master Plan; Integrating Your Financial Planning, Legal and Estate Planning and Life Planning in 2006. He is a founding member of the Institute of Philanthropy and works with the Sudden Money Institute. He is listed in National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals(2001-2002).

Education: Undergraduate degree work Indiana University School of Business; College for Financial Planning; New York Institute on Family Wealth.

Personal: Married to Dr. Bonnie Brown Hartley. One son, Michael. Interests include composing and performing sacred and popular music on guitar, piano, and synthesizer, collecting oriental art and artifacts, and collecting musical instruments and musical artifacts.

Recently when at home my wife and I have consumed a lot of time as the co-founders of the Venice Institute for Performing Arts which is our combined passion.” Hartley has been involved with charitable and civic organizations in the Venice area since the late 1970s, including as a president of South County Family YMCA Board during 18 years. A president of Village on the Isle Board for 13 years, City of Venice Planning Commission Chairperson, Gulf Coast Community Foundation Board member and he is Board president of the Venice Institute for Performing Arts.


Trainer/Coach: Civia Lee-Verstraete

Civia is a member of the VLLA Coach Training Team and contributes in the development of the facilitator training and certification program for the Vitalign System. She has been a Vitalign System facilitator since early 2017.

Civia acquired her coaching training from CoachU and as Program Leader at Landmark Education Corporation. Civia brings all her experience together to contribute to clients looking to find and fulfill on their next best possibilities in life.

During her employment as a consultant with Mandrake and as a coach with NEXCareer, she focused on both new employment and start up experiences in career transitions as well as personal lifestyle issues. Civia’s exposure to working with clients seeking significant change has provided much satisfaction as well as relief in working through a successful alignment to a new future.

Graduating from McGill University with an MBA in Finance, Civia joined Gillette Canada Inc.  With an initial solid grounding in finance, she moved into the world of brand management.  Significant consumer packaged goods experience then opened up a position with a billion-dollar Canadian manufacturing company as a Commercial Marketing and Business Manager.

Civia has an expert understanding of both the employment market and the career management process, and how they operate in the business marketplace.  Her initial background followed a traditional corporate career path and then she experienced being laid off with a subsequent career transition into an unrelated field. Having navigated these practical experiences successfully has only added to grounding her empathetic expertise in facilitating the coaching initiative you now explore.


Director of Training/Coaching: Ellie Lamson

Ellie Lamson – Vital Lifelong Alignment Founding Member/Coach/ Coach Trainer and Sales and Marketing Team Member

Ellie Lamson is a multi passionate entrepreneur who believes in the power of Dreaming Big! She has spent the better part of her life following her heart’s desires and turning dreams into realities. Ellie began her entrepreneurial ventures at an early age starting her first (of many) cafes in her native town of New Orleans. Ellie got her professional start in her hometown climbing the corporate ladder of the hospitality industry. She went from being an opening Trainer for a national chain of restaurants to being the Assistant Food & Beverage Director and Resident Manager of small Boutique Hotel in the French Quarter to Managing the Jackson Brewery Festival Marketplace on the Mississippi River. She moved to San Diego and immediately was recruited by an East Coast Recruiting Firm to train and open an office in La Jolla, CA. Ellie became a top name recognized Luxury Retail Recruiter and recruited for some of the best Real Estate and Luxury Retail companies in the country. Ellie discovered her passion for inspiring clients and realized that her calling was to become a Career and Life Coach. Ellie has been continuing to follow her passions which are her love of singing and songwriting; researching and inspiring optimal health and encouraging everyone she meets to live their very best lives.
